QEC Objectives

Grow our research and economic development efforts and output as to improve our industry competitiveness using university innovations and becoming the driving force behind research and economic development for Pakistan.

Responsibilities

As an umbrella, INU-ORIC office works closely with the researchers, and off campus Incubators, to serve as a conduit to local, regional and federal partners for ensuring research for the growth of Pakistan’s economy. The office will develop its mechanism for research commercialization and try to establish a Business/Technology Incubator to work closely for innovation and entrepreneurship.

INU-ORIC Services Offered

Fund raising for research

  • Provide information to faculty about various available research grants
  • Link faculty with relevant industry
  • Help and guide on patent filing and licensing
  • Interface between faculty and the commercial sector
  • Work with patent counsel to assess patentability/licensing
  • Evaluate markets for commercialization of inventions
  • Identify potential licensees
  • Negotiate terms of licenses
  • Assist with negotiating problematic sponsored research agreements
  • Help faculty start companies

Yearly Objectives Short-term (1-2 years)

One window operation for providing guidance and information about research opportunities and industrial requirements.

  1. To providing advisory support and monitoring quality of research. Updating INU Faculty Research Policy to incorporate all International requirements.
  2. Cultivating linkages with potential users of our research with industry, NGOs and government.
  3. Set up a target of 200 research papers from 2024 and then gradually increase it by upto 100 papers every year.
  4. Establish a strong link between INU and National Incubation Centre, Peshawar.
  5. To hold National or International conference in INU every year or alternate year. Inviting faculties from national and international universities.
  6. Meetings to be conducted with various industrialists to bridge the gap between INU and industry so that our FYPs must be prepared in that direction. HoDs to be involved in this step.

Yearly Objectives Medium-term (3-4 years)

To establish online database for keeping of faculty record that have done research and created linkages with suitable industry.

  1. Facilitating resources for research from national and international funding bodies.
  2. Generate Revenues from Research commercialization / Technology Transfer.
  3. Implement Intellectual Property Policy and to revise it every years as per any new requirements.

Yearly Objectives Long-term (5th year)

Assessing and updating additional factors for strengthening Industry and academia linages for benefit of both sides.

  1. Preparation and filing of provisional patent applications.
  2. Market analyses of university intellectual property.
  3. Establishing strong and long term ties with different national and provisional Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
