COURSE OVERVIEW
The first professional degree in physical therapy endorsed by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) comprises of 5 years (10 semesters), equivalent 17 years of schooling. The degree program will produce physical therapy professionals who will be Doctors of Physical Therapy and will be competent to diagnose and treat movement dysfunctions due to injuries or diseases by using all physical means including; manual therapy techniques, exercise therapy, electrotherapy and preventative and
Corrective measures. Physical Therapists with the DPT degree will be practitioners of choice to whom public will have direct access for the diagnosis of, interventions for, and prevention of impairments, environmental barriers related to movement, function, and health. The DPT degree also fulfills the international requirements for physical therapy education, so the DPT graduates could get equivalency easily abroad.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)
After the completion of five years, the graduates of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program will:
- Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of physical therapy to pursue their career and workplace needs.
- Promote health and wellness, examine, evaluate, diagnose and provide intervention and manage physical therapy services for individuals any dysfunction.
- Demonstrate a highly professional, ethical, legal, and culturally-competent manner and commitment to society and the profession.
- Demonstrate effective leadership, management, entrepreneurial, communication and teaching skills.
- Engage in reflective practice through sound clinical decision making, critical self-assessment, problem solving and commitment to lifelong learning.
- Demonstrate the intellectual curiosity to actively participate in the innovation/research, acquisition of new knowledge and skills to refine their technical abilities.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The applicant should have FSc. Pre medical or equivalent qualifications earned from a recognized board/institution with at least 60% marks.
